Museums, Galleries and Exhibitions
From Castasegna to Maloja
There are numerous smaller and larger exhibitions in Bregaglia that reflect the diversity of the local artists and craftsmen. The two largest museums are the Ciäsa Granda, which is a regional ethnographic museum but also exhibits paintings, drawings and sculptures, and the Palazzo Castelmur, where you can admire the former life of the wealthy people of Bregaglia Valley.
Also in Stampa is the Giacometti atelier, which converted into an Atelier from Giovanni Giacometti in the early 1900s and is the only space where Giovanni and Alberto Giacometti worked that can be visit today. In Maloja is the Atelier Segantini, built as a model for the great "Engadine Alpine Panorama" planned by Giovanni Segantini for the World Exhibition in Paris in 1900. The Atelier was renovate in 1986 by Renato Maurizio and opened to the public as a memorial and small museum.
In addition, there are numerous small private galleries as well as exhibitions and art installations in hotels and restaurants. And last but not least: There is also a lot to see on the other side of the border or up in the Engadine!
Please note that most exhibition spaces in Bregaglia are open from April to October (museums from June).
